I {Heart} Holi

Holi has got to be my favorite festival, period.

I just love how vibrant everything is. Obviously, the various colored powders and paints are great and fun to take photos of. But what I love the most about this festival is that everyone in it is happy. And it’s so obvious. You see that they are smiling with their eyes, and they welcome connecting with another person, they are relaxed and are just ready to have a good time.

Wanting to know more about my favorite festival, I came across this description on about.com:

The festival of Holi can be regarded as a celebration of the Colors of Unity & Brotherhood – an opportunity to forget all differences and indulge in unadulterated fun. It has traditionally been celebrated in high spirit without any distinction of cast, creed, color, race, status or sex. It is one occasion when sprinkling colored powder (‘gulal’) or colored water on each other breaks all barriers of discrimination so that everyone looks the same and universal brotherhood is reaffirmed. This is one simple reason to participate in this colorful festival.

Back in 2010, I also went to this festival and you can see photos I’ve taken here and here!

Outside the Milwaukee Art Museum

Two weeks ago, a group of my photographer friends and I drove up to Milwaukee to take some photos in and around the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Here are some of the photographs I took outside the museum.

Wat Arun During Sunset

After a day of sightseeing around Bangkok, our guides from BKK Tours, Michiel and Air, brought us to a floating house to watch the sunset at Wat Arun.

What a way to end the day! Sitting back, enjoying cold drinks on a nice warm afternoon and watching the beautiful sunset in front of us was AMAZING!

Wat Arun is also called the Temple of Dawn and it is located at the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. With it’s 70 meter-high spire which is decorated with tiny pieces of Chinese porcelain and colored glass , it is easily one of the most famous temples in Bangkok.

Mother and Child in Siem Reap

I have not updated this blog for a long time! I have so much backlog of photos I need to review and share. I am not even done going through my Cambodia pictures yet!

Here is one that I have processed way back but have just neglected to post.
